Takuapa Cultural aand History (full day). Experience the everlasting charm and enduring history of Takuapa Old Town, located approximately 32 km north of Khao Lak. The ancient name of this town, “Takola”, dates back to the 12th century. The beautiful Sino-Portuguese architecture and wealth of the community owe their origins to the tin-mining industry, an important era in the town’s history. We will guide you from the past through to the present. Step back in time and
wander through Chinese shrines and Thai temples, discover the old-town streets exploring
fascinating examples of Sino-Portuguese architecture, and witness the centuries-old
prosperity of the town.
Visit the Takuapa market and enjoy a
delicious, authentic Thai lunch, included in the tour. Continue on to the Namkhem Cultural Centre & Tsunami Museum. The museum, made of clay, is run solely by the locals of Namkhem Village. Finally, visit
the Tsunami Memorial Park, operated by
the Thai government, a tranquil and peaceful
place for reflection and remembrance.
